In my local community, many people viewed Toyota as the company that cared. After all, they created the Prius, the green car and that gave them “rock star” status around my green neck-of-the-woods. My husband owned a Lexus, which he was very happy driving. Unfortunately, that car met with a very premature death at the hands of our then-eighteen year old son. In fact, my husband was so happy with that Lexus that he bought the exact same model, just a newer year…a 2007. By now, I imagine everyone who reads or listens to the news knows about the accelerator problem, maybe even the brake problem on the Prius models. But that’s not what I’m writing about. I’m writing about the other skeletons lurking in Toyota’s closet that have yet to be dealt with. Things like faulty brakes in MANY of their models, including my husband’s Lexus. This has gotten to be a joke. In fact, if I were going to tell a joke about it., it would likely read:
When Did Toyota decide to become GM?
When?
When it decided the customer no longer mattered.
Yeah, I know, it’s not funny. Believe me, what’s going on with Toyota and it’s abysmal quality ain’t funny, either.
The perky gal who calls my husband about his shimmying brakes tells him it will be only a few hundred dollars to correct the problem…the chronic problem my husband is faced with fixing over and over again. Frankly, it’s ridiculous. It’s the stuff that complaints are made of. If you hv a compliant, click here and good luck: www.nhtsa.dot.gov/cars/problems/
